Vinous Neal Martin - 10 Nov 22
The 2007 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has a well-defined nose with red cherries, kirsch, crushed rock and light camphor scents that are very seductive. The palate has decent weight and grip, a fine spine of acidity and is fleshy towards the finish. Perhaps it does not "kick on" like the best Chambolles, but there is an effortless charm that I appreciate here. Tasted blind at the Roumier Les Cras vertical at Medlar, London.

Chambolle-Musigny

Chambolle-Musigny, a prestigious appellation in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, is renowned for its elegant, aromatic Pinot Noir wines. Known for their finesse and complex aromas of red berries, violets, and earth, these wines are often described as the most "feminine" of Burgundy. The appellation's two Grand Cru vineyards, Bonnes Mares and Musigny, produce highly sought-after wines with depth and ageing potential. Notable producers include Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier, and Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, all celebrated for their refined winemaking.
